About Liberty Athletic Club

Liberty is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, women's running clubs in the US.  It was established for the purpose of nurturing women's running and women runners at a time when there were very limited opportunities for females to participate in competitive athletics. In the pre-Title IX years it provided an opportunity for girls and young women to participate in competitive running. Since the advent of Title IX, Liberty has expanded to provide coaching and training opportunities not only for younger athletes but also for adult women. Many of our members of all ages participate in road racing, cross-country, and track and field competitions locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.

We believe an all-women's running club is an important asset. Both for the competitive athlete and for the individual athlete who simply wants to be the best she can be. For both the competitive athlete and the individual athlete it offers the opportunity to hone her training in an environment that focuses solely on her: her issues, her needs, her special gifts as a female runner. Coed clubs provide a lot of advantages. We all love them. But there just isn't enough time to address every issue and still be fair to everyone. Liberty's job is to fill this gap. And to provide the company of other successful female athletes.

Liberty is about us. You and me and going for it.
